This pop up store was a National Gallery of Victoria project in conjunction with the artist KAWS and Chadstone Shopping Centre. The store was built to coincide with the KAWS exhibition KAWS: Companionship in the Age of Loneliness at the National Gallery of Victoria.

The store stocked a variety of items including shoes, t-shirts, bags, postcards plates, badges and skateboards. The internal design approach was to create a large display wall with integrated display cases referencing a Salon type exhibition display combined with cabinets of curiosities. A rail for displaying t-shirts and bags as well as bench for trying on shoes were integrated into the point of sale. This separated the display from a large wall of storage behind the point of sale.
With a quick period for design and construction a simple modulated approach was developed. Externally there was a strong rhythm of ribs used to create the walls with integrated blue Perspex windows for curious shoppers to see inside. The distinctive blue colour is directly related to the KAWS exhibition and the graphics for the space were designed by NGV and KAWS.
