The National Gallery of Victoria required a new servery to the Ground Floor of the NGV International.
The new cafe reveals itself as a contemporary insertion in the spirit and materiality of Bellini’s renovation to Roy Grounds National Gallery of Victoria. It is a minimalist servery that holds its own with a clear presence in the space.
The path to purchase drove the functional layout of the design, streamlining the food ordering process, improving the customer experience and greatly increasing the speed turnover of the cafes day to day operation. A seamless 11m long stainless steel bench runs the length of the counter, reinforcing the strong rectilinear and horizontal character of Roy Ground’s building form.
